Delegates will tour Singapore’s Land Transport Authority’s Land Transport Gallery for an overview of the country’s sustainable and integrated approach to developing a people-centred transport system. The Land Transport Gallery explains in a fun and interactive way, the developments of land transport over time and how improvements have been made possible. Experience the issues surrounding land transport, in the past and present. Then fast forward to see how the future transportation landscape might be.

VISIT TO MARINA BAY CITY GALLERY: Masterplanning Presentation and Tour of Marina Bay Precinct

With 360 hectares of prime land for development extending seamlessly from the existing Central Business District, Marina Bay is the centerpiece of Singapore’s urban transformation that will support its continuing growth as a major business and financial hub in Asia.
Led by a representative from Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), delegates will learn about the masterplanning strategies that took over 30 years to transform a swampy coastline at the mouth of the Singapore River to a vibrant and iconic new downtown.
Delegates will also be guided around the innovative city model at the Marina Bay City Gallery and shown an interactive timeline of the vibrant waterfront development.

Regenerating Existing Cities Through Green Retrofits

This add-on focus day addresses the urgent need for planning authorities and other stakeholders to retrofit Asia’s cities with eco-friendly building materials and new methods. As buildings and infrastructure in the region’s cities age, what can national and state governments, urban planners and business owners do to mitigate the situation and ensure their cities are liveable and meet the green agenda?
This morning session will be led by Jeff Robinson, Principal Engineer and Sustainabile Buildings Leader, Aurecon Group with examples of city refurbishment and upgrading projects in Australia and across Asia.

Jeff is Aurecon’s principal engineer and sustainable design leader for Asia Pacific. He has over 24 years experience, working in London, Ireland and in Melbourne for the last 14 years. Jeff has been involved in the design of a wide variety of building types, including offices, residential, industrial, academic and institutional buildings and has worked on projects in Australia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and America.
A passionate advocate for the design and renovation of environmentally sustainable buildings, Jeff has been involved in many of the cutting-edge ESD buildings in Melbourne and overseas. He advises clients on the sustainable redevelopment of their Commercial, Public and Educational buildings and has worked on many sustainable refurbishment projects in Australia.
Jeff has been involved in the planning and design of a number of urban regeneration sustainable precinct projects, which he sees as being the way forward for sustainable development.
Landscaping Strategies for a Sustainable and Liveable Urban Metropolis

Urban landscaping contributes to making a city environmentally friendly and liveable. Governments, property developers and owners should aim to bring about noticeable improvements in urban greenery, to enhance existing greened areas, and to enhance opportunities of quality greening during the planning and development of public works projects with a view to achieving the sustainable development of greener environment.
This afternoon session will be led by Robbert Van Nouhuys, Director, ACLA, Hong Kong who has been involved in the Greening Master Plan of Hong Kong.
What You Will Learn:
- Strategies to improve the coordination and effectiveness of greening efforts and to make greening an integral part of the city’s future rejuvenation master plan
- Getting public and private sector buy-in through consultations, feedback and participation
- Greening works for government buildings: roof and vertical greening, and retrofitting roofs of existing government buildings

His often innovative ideas and attention to detail has lead to successful completion of a wide variety of projects, ranging from new capital cities, residential and resort developments, to largescale tourism and recreation projects. Robbert was involved in the Greening Master Plan for Hong Kong.
